The pergolas at Clanz are made from the traditionally widespread grape variety Isabella, the so-called American Grape or Fragolino. It is very resistant and orginally was imported as basis for fruit grafting. Since 2019, Clanz participates in a project by winemaker Sabadin from Muggia, contributing a big part of Fragoline grapes to this yearly conclusion of the season: in first half of November, between three and five pergolas in the area are harvested and between 500 and 1.000 litres of fragolino are produced. This wine is not allowed for commercial production and, with its characteristic taste, is distributed in 1/2 litre bottles as a speciality in private circles.
