The residency aims to strengthen and diversify the landscape of contemporary sound practices in Trieste/Trst and within the wider regional constellation between Venice, Rijeka, and Ljubljana. Invited artists are encouraged to develop new works that use sound as it’s basic medium, and as a form of intervention capable of interacting with and altering social, spatial, and perceptual conditions.
Rather than illustrating context, the residency seeks practices that interfere with it — generating new forms of attention, discourse, and collective experience. Public formats include dialogical presentations, listening sessions, performances, and recordings for documentation and broadcast.

Gangart is an artist collective working across architectural, social, and performative contexts. Its practice ranges from autonomous interventions in public space and exhibition-making within institutions to participatory projects situated at the geographical and societal fringes of Western mainstream culture. Through biographical roots in Trieste/Trst, Gangart maintains and develops the Clanz premises as living and working infrastructure for residents. Simonetta Ferfoglia and Heinrich Pichler connect the project to local scenes and initiatives.

ABC – Adriatico Book Club is a nonprofit cultural association active in contemporary art, cinema, and sound. Since 2024, it has developed POP Adriatico – Porto Osservatorio Partecipato, a program of artistic and participatory actions situated within the monumental gates of Trieste’s abandoned Porto Vecchio. Through educational, artistic, and social formats, the initiative seeks to involve citizens in processes of urban transformation and collective decision-making. Lorenzo Lazzari and Giuditta Trani facilitate access to the spaces and maintain connections to the surrounding urban context.
