The 2023 programm was curated by Gustavo Petek and Alisa Beck of Small Forms. For practical reasons, the invitations referred exclusively to artists who have their operational basis Vienna. The availiable timespan between middle of August and middle of September was split into two periods for three/two participants each.

19.8. – 3.9.
Karo Preuschl / Samuel Schaab / Sixtus Preiss

Karo, Samuel and Sixtus did not form a fixed creative team before, but have been planning to conceive a future common project. On this behalf, the residency enabled them to confront their individual approaches and languages of sound production and performance, and to concentrate on the development of a collaborational practice. With breathtaking playfulness they integrated the spacial conditions and various elements of material culture which they found at the clanz, when they conceived a sketchy performance for the public workshop presentation as the conclusion of their stay.
Accordingly, the event was not promoted publically, nevertheless resulting in an audience of around 40 people that was composed of musicians, writers, artists and cultural workers in the field of fine arts, media art and architecture / urbanism, a group of activists from the Democratic Psychiatry that had fled to Trieste from Argentina in the 70ties (due to a connection of Buenos Aires-born Gustavo Petek), several visitors from Austria – which is currently quite expectable in Trieste -, and not at least friends of the house both from town and from immediate neighbourhood. The performance was perceived as an enormous liberation of conventions and a substancial input to local production.

3. – 10.9.
Alex Zehetbauer / Stina Fors

Alex used his stay to prepare for the upcoming season, experimenting with his body-microphones and underwater-equipment and doing training and rehearsals.
Stina joined on her way from a performance in South France to Vienna and restricted herself to writing on a new piece and finishing the application for financing the next year without distraction.
Besides these individual intimate workingsteps, we had several excursions in the city and internal / informal debates on artistic issues.
