It is both an honor and a pleasure to welcome these extraordinary Georgian musicians, with whom some of the Clanz-team share a friendship since decades. The group of 15 persons made a stop in Trieste on their tour through northern Italy, Austria and southern Germany, and besides their concert with traditional polyphonic chants at the Basilica di San Silvestro, the oldest church in town which is used by the Swiss and Valdese Evangelic Community, they were holding up the tradition of a Georgian Table in a meeting with local choir singers at the Clanz.
The name of the program Megobari (Friendship) refers to the solidarity among those who currently suffer from repression and fight for their freedom of speech and cultural expression on the streets of Tbilisi and all over the country.
